My first time driving a tractor trailer at night was in WV . Some of it on interstate , some of it on2 lane roads going up the dang mountain trying to find the store. It really made me wonder if I had made the right career choice lol.

I lived in Slaytfork WV, population 56. For a few years. Not much for parking there though, I prefer 64 laye at night, avoids all the traffic. but best to drive all night til about 8am, only way to get parking.
64 and 77....? You need to get out more and expand your driving. Want additional fun? Take Route 60 instead of I-64. That was the only way before the Interstate was finished between Covington, VA and Charleston, WV.

Haha. Between my 4-wheeler and trucks, I've run 64 hundreds of times. Dark or daylight, it can be hairy, especially your first time through.
PackRat tells no lies - 60 would have been an experience!
Happy Holidays to you too!

The company I drive for doesn’t have a lot of business in Virginia, but yesterday morning I picked up a load in Mt. Crawford bound for Cheyenne WY. The route took me down 81 to 64 west. First time across 64 in WV, and it is not a fun drive in the dark. I wasn’t prepared for all the mountains and curves. Very hard to find truck parking late at night. I drove two hours longer than I wanted to until I found a service plaza where I was able to get a “creative” parking spot.
Next time, if there is a next time, I will not drive WV after dark. Very fatiguing. But I did enjoy the last 100 miles I drove today in the daylight. Some beautiful scenery. Also, first time through Louisville Ky. Interesting drive on 64 alongside the Ohio river. I was amazed at how many bridges span that river by Louisville.
Glad to be a flat lander again. My experience was probably very mild to those of you who run the western mountains, an experience I’ve not yet had.
Happy holidays everyone!
