I'd love to avoid that mess and seek out a small number of high-quality reviews

Make a couple of membership levels. The basic level can't make reviews (no button for such). TT registered members get the Review button. Beyond that is just icing on the cake. Maybe Mods can do the deletions kind of thing.

Yeah, I like that idea. Getting a lot of reviews and comments isn't a problem if you have someone moderating them. If nothing else, we can flag suspicious or unverified ones so users know what's been verified and what hasn't.

Walmart parking! It would be helpful to know (maybe from reviews) what Walmarts are truck friendly.

For example, the Goddard, KS one is very hostile to trucks. Can’t even get in there, so don’t try. On the other hand the most truck friendly Walmart is know of is at Eureka, MO. I think it is exit 261 off interstate 44 the Six Flags exit. One night I saw about 20 trucks parked there and room for more.

Some Walmarts are even making it difficult to get in bobtail by putting up goal posts. It would be good to know which locations are truck friendly.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

This is a great thread so far!

One thing:

I'm trying not to overwhelm people with the ideas I have, but a permanent memory is one thing this app will have. I can store information and use that information in future interactions. So Jimmy will "get to know you," over time, if you can imagine that.

With perfect memory, comes the opportunity for perfect imperfection.... What I'm tying to say I guess, is there may be times when Jimmy may "memorize" a piece of information that later turns out to be incorrect or, more likely the user has second thoughts about/changes their mind.

Using the Burger joint example... if Super-Trucker Dave asks Jimmy to remind him of the burger joint every time he is near a location, but then has an epiphany and decides later to become a Vegan... he probably doesn't want to be reminded about the Burger joint anymore. lol :)

Long story short, make it so we can ask Jimmy to "forget" things he has memorized for us. This leads me to another idea.... have a page or interface where the user can see or hear all the tidbits of information that Jimmy has memorized for him/her.

@BK, Trucker Path has lots of conflicting info on Walmarts. The reviews are unmoderated, so you do get all types of answers. I just look on Google Maps/Satellite to see if there are any trucks in the Wally Lot. Even then, if it's more than a grocery stop, check with the Checkout Supervisor (easiest management type to find). If necessary, you can get a move on before the tow truck shows up.

Yap, that will be another one that's gonna take a lot of help from our users, or someone has to find a current and accurate list, which would be tough. But that's a biggie. I know you guys will want to find grocery stores, Walmarts, malls, restaurants, etc, that have truck parking, so that will be a huge priority. We need to nail the parking aspect of this thing, and we will. We'll figure it out.

Long story short, make it so we can ask Jimmy to "forget" things he has memorized for us.

Absolutely. My goal is to make interacting with Jimmy exactly like you would interact with a super-intelligent, massively experienced driver who is along for the ride and thrilled to assist you in any way possible. So I want you to be able to say, "Jimmy, I just became a vegan. Forget about my previous food preferences. Unless I say otherwise, from now on, I am a vegan."

That's it. Done. Now he knows. Next time you say, "Jimmy, find me some restaurants nearby," he'll know you're a vegan and should search specifically for that. If he "forgets" to ask specifically for your preferred type of restaurant, you just correct him, "Jimmy, I'm a vegan. I don't eat burgers. Send me vegan restaurants."

Done.

This leads me to another idea.... have a page or interface where the user can see or hear all the tidbits of information that Jimmy has memorized for him/her.

I love that idea! Totally doable.

That leads me to another aspect of this thing that I haven't talked much about, which is storytelling. If you keep Jimmy updated about the details of your travels, you'll be able to say, "Hey Jimmy, tell my kids about my week," and he'll launch into a story about where you've been, what you did, what you were thinking and feeling, and tell them anything he knows. Whatever info he has he'll be able to use.

To inform Jimmy about yourself, you'll just rattle off information anytime you like. For instance, "Hey Jimmy, I want you to remember that I love football, beer, popcorn, and a good audiobook." That's it. Jimmy will store all that information about you. If later you say, "Jimmy, I don't like popcorn anymore, but I do like pretzels!" It's done. Popcorn is now moved to "does not like" and pretzels to "like" - simple as that. You shouldn't have to really think about how any of this works. You should just be able to talk to Jimmy like any normal human and get the results you expect. That's why this is going to freak people out. It's gonna be that good!

"Hey Jimmy, show me the satellite view of my current location"

...or...

"Hey Jimmy, give me the satellite view of Walmart in Gary, Indiana" or "the closest Walmart"

Bam, there it is, the live and interactive Google Maps satellite view on the page.

Well, I can verify 1 small casino BK with 20+ truck parking. In Roland, Ok. Cherokee Nation Casino, I happened upon it on a load, right NEXT DOOR! hahaha.....Seen trucks parked, as I passed by to deliver, on the side road, off the highway. So after I dropped, I literally left customers lot, crossed the creek, into the casino's truck area.

Didn't realize it was a casino, sitting and looking at the building in the cab. A gas station was off to the right in there as well....Thought it was small hotel or something, til I googled the spot.....So that was my go-to parking when ever I had a load going there next door....Plus as a bonus, I just happened to WIN money there, every time I went there (5 times, video poker, best night's win was $1,500)

Just a lil' FYI, if anyone ends up down in that area lol

Stevo, that’s a good one to know. I go by there on a regular basis when traveling on 40. Satellite view shows just what you said, approximately 20 spaces and a truck stop on the same property. The casino looks like a pretty big deal.

Brett, you are very correct. Finding parking is important and finding places like this quickly and easily would be a great function.

Yes BK and to the south east on other side of the 40, is a Pilot @ exit 325 lol.....Plus I saw parking across from casino at the small cafe, probably enough for 6 trucks or so. If I remember, I came in off US 64 turning left to my DC drop next door (paw-paw rd)

And the fuel station @ casino, ya can even park at the curb strip by the store. I did that one time, with no issues from patrolling security
