I agree. I read the Virginia CDL manual and picked up some facts and figures. I've started the online CDL training here and I'm amazed at how much I'm retaining. I'm feeling a lot more confident about going to the DMV and taking the test.

I fully agree that the High Road training course works !
I can comfortably say that prior to even stepping in a CDL A training school that I could have passed the General Knowledge , Combination Vehicle and Air Brake tests at the DMV just from my time studying on this web site .
Fact is that the first week in school was rather monotonous and I started feeling like I was drawing too much attention to myself by answering all the questions in class .

It NEVER hurts being in a classroom, and knowing all the information. It makes you stand out as someone who came as prepared as a person can be...and a person who wants to learn, and be the best driver they can be. These points will open doors to you that other students won't even get to look thru the key hole. You may get to go to the practice pad, while the rest of the class is reading, studying or testing...that you flew thru. You may be singled out by trainers who only want the best of the best...And all these things have happened to folks here who used the High Road before they went to CDL school....you can NEVER be to prepared.

My wife and I have been studying the CDL materials for a month or so. We took our written exams before starting driving school. Both for our learner permit and for our further exams. After the driving school and passing the driving test, we turned right around and took the hazmat and tanker exam. Passed all! Thanks Bret for a great training program. We have a pre hire offer already to team drive.

What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
