Van wyk is a co reefer outfit and tmv the flatbed outfit also have these pay options. Major difference is deadhead is not paid. You get paid per load not per mile. Sometimes it adds up to more sometimes not. 23°\° seems a little low though. I seem to recall the others at 33°\° but dont quote me. For local though it might be good. Can you ask for actual examples of loads so you can compare the data?
To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.
A refrigerated trailer.
Good point on the deadhead. I will have to check on that.

*tmc and ATS also
The main reason percentage pay scares me is what is the load worth. What's 23% of $100? $23 dollars.
Unless you could actually see exactly what the load is being paid for the company to haul it there really is no way to know if you really are getting what you are supposed to. Most companies dislike divulging their financial paperwork to an employee.

This morning I talked with an HR rep from a local company who's trying to woo me into joining their team. They're are a good, steady company, been around since 1969. Family owned and operated. They run five days, no weekends. New Volvo 730's with all the bells and whistles. Bonuses out the wazoo and I can even bring my old coon hound!!!!! The thing I'm uncertain about is the pay. Rather than pay by the mile, they start out at 23-1/2% of the gross load.
Anyone besides O/O's ever run this way?
