Tomorrow I will be taking the skills test/pre trip inspection for my cdl. I'm doing it with my pickup truck and the only advice the guy gave me is that big or small all trucks have most of the same parts the smaller trucks just have them hidden. So I printed the list from the manual for my state and brought it to my uncle who owns a ford dealership to go over with. I have it pretty down pack but have a question. In the manual when your checking the steering linkage it says check that joints and sockets or not loose or broken or missing nuts bolts. Do I have to name different joints or can I while checking the steering linkage I'll check the joints and sockets. Same thing for mounts for suspension. Do I just sum it up while doing the walk around and say I make sure all the mounts are bolted on, no bolts or ubolts are missing and everything is secure to the frame and axles?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
