What's the terminal code?
It's TVP
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
How is she liking it?
Are they busy?
I know my terminal is really slow

She likes the job, but doesn't like some of the management there. There was no training and they threw everybody out there, sink or swim. Since everybody was new, nobody knew what they were doing. It was kind of crazy and stressful.
It's really slow, but they do some bonehead things. In my opinion, it's keeping corporate from trusting them with more freight. To show the level of inexperience in the management level, one supervisor was changing clock in times to control hours and sent out an email saying she was going to do that. Somebody had to tell her that's illegal and she can't do that.
Since they opened, they've fired a bunch of dock workers and a few office people.
I know 2 drivers there. They work 3-4 nights a week, averaging 4-5 hundred miles a day. They're not happy about dispatch procedures and constantly going to "butthole NJ", but they're happy to get the miles they weren't getting at FedEx.
I think a lot of this stuff is growing pains, but I also think they should be further along than what they are.
Operating While Intoxicated
I'm surprised they usually do a good job with new terminals and getting them up and running.

Yeah that is a big no no.

I've heard it takes about a year from when a terminal opens for the dispatching to make some sense. With it being slow it might even be longer

They did and continue to do a horrible job here. I've never seen a shtshow like this.
Apparently, they overestimated how much freight they were going to have. They're on a firing spree right now. They've fired a bunch of dock workers and 21 to go. They've fired 4 office workers and are looking to terminate 4 more. In my opinion, that's foul. Had all of these people leave stable jobs to fire them 2 months later in this job economy. Hearing them talk about it, it's like they thought it was field of dreams. "If you build it, they will come". It's so stupid.
As for management here, they're stupid too. It seems like they just promoted a bunch of people from within that had no management experience. They're rude and disrespectful towards employees. The conversations I overhear while my wife is on the phone with her coworkers is mind boggling. I also know people there from FedEx and that I go to church with and they tell the same story. Then they have the nerve to tell people to be on their best behavior to make a good impression when corporate visits. You're firing everybody and treating them horribly. I have yet to meet one person that has anything good to say about this place.
I'm glad I didn't make that jump when they opened. It feels like I dodged a bullet.

If they're hiring, they need the bodies but they probably got flooded with apps. My advice to people when applying for these jobs is to use the key words they use in the qualifications and duties.
Today, people don't sit around looking at applications. The apps go through a software program that sifts applications looking for key words. Use the right key words it goes to the the top.
