As usual Brett you are spot on in my thinking from my perspective. I have some great relationships with a few big brokers. Freight of all kinds is still way off overall. Sporadic is a very good term.
Shippers are more than ever looking for the best deal. Today I heard corporate profits are up 11% yr over yr. I wonder how that was factored out.
I am doing ok with my outbound loads, and yes I give my customers a great rate. I have picked up several lately simply because other providers are use to higher rates and won’t budge. They are losing business as a result.
I use the brokers only to get home. The rates they are willing to pay has come up in the flatbed lately, but nothing spectacular.
My best customer just purchased a 3-axle 55 ton rgn for me to pull for his stuff. It’s used but still a big bite. He told me on his heavy haul stuff the big player he used was costing him too much in missed appt times and he knows me and my work ethic, so he bought the trailer for me. That is one committed customer. I guess I’m getting busier rather than slowing down, lol.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
