I agree James you have to decide what is best for YOUR future. I’ve been through more than my share of bad marriages. I too tried being helpful and considerate. It got me screwed 3 out of 3 times.

I’ve been by TMC’s yard in Columbia. Couple truckstops and stuff fairly close by.

TMC will not hesitate to send you home if your not up to the task at their level. OS is very correct, Bring your A plus game. You have shown the tenacity to get where you want to be, keep it up and you’ll be joining the ranks of proffessional drivers getting it done everyday.

I’m kinda a flatbedder. I pull one, but I haul one product of 3 different forms most of the time.

Any questions jump on here. OS is probably our veteran flatbedder. We’ll help you all we can.

Wishing you the best!!!

Congrats James on getting that much closer !! As mentioned, and I vouch for it, leave ALL the drama, and bad baggage behind!!......This is for YOU, not her, block her if you need to hahaha you don't need her negativity getting into your head, whilst your trying to grasp this new chapter in your life.

Not knowing, but she may be the texting, calling, pestering you type. She is only thinking about herself, trying to keep you closer for her safety net. (from what I've gathered from your comments) You need positivity around you, not "negative nellies", for sure!!

Keep your focus on the prize bud, Wishing you the best in your success at this. You CAN DEW IT lol

grats James you can do this I can tell by the excitement in your posts. I’m just getting back into the industry myself after being gone a while and I’m totally stoked. Listen to these fellow hands advice you don’t need anything negative going on in your head while your going through your training. My advice is make some friends in your class and feed off each other’s positive vibes. You will get through it and there right flat bedding is a blast I think your going to enjoy it but it does come with allot of responsibilities. So keep you head clear listen to what there going to teach you and just shut out all the negative crap from the wife. If she’s not supportive then you don’t need that trust me I’ve been there did that as I’m pretty sure 3 out of every 4 drivers have. Again James congratulations your going to make it just keep the attitude you have right now and you will be golden

Hey all, just wanted to give a quick update. Got through my 1st week here and there was a class today and even Sunday as well to make up for Monday being closed.

The 1st classroom we went through up to and including Thursday. Our instructor; Robert; was pretty knowledgeable. We had to do the DOT physical again, but they have their own on site doctor and they pay for it. 1 guy was let go because of AC1 problems. That was Tuesday. Robert trained us pretty quickly and gave us a good amount of tests. We had to have an average score of 80% of all of the tests combined. He gave us his final test on Wednesday. Unfortunately, he had to let 2 other guys go because they had an average less than 80%. I'm still here though.

Yesterday, we started a new class with a new instructor; Tim. He's going over load securement. It's mostly hands on now. I'm definitely learning a lot, but I'm enjoying it an trying my best to soak it all in.

Well, I guess that's all for now. Just wanted to let you know what's been going on and once again to thank each and every one of you. I know I couldn't have done this without you.

You're ALL ROCKSTARS!

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

James, that is great news, but I knew that once you got your foot in the door, you would do well because of your tenacity. Keep up the effort because the strength of the effort is the measure of the result.

Thanks Bruce. I love that last sentence, BTW.

The training is hard and kinda all over the place now. I've got a test tomorrow, but it's an open book test so I'm not worried about that. Tuesday they will test us on in cab pre trip inspection. I don't have it 100% yet. My roommate Andrew and I have been testing each other. I think we're each at about 90% there. Good thing is we can go over it some more Sunday after we get back from class and then we'll have all Monday to really cram it all in and get it perfect 👌.

Thanks again Bruce!

Just a quick update. Everyone thought the load securement test today was going to be an open book test.....but, it wasn't. I'm glad I studied during lunch today and when I got back and took the test I got a 94%. I was actually upset I missed 3 questions...lol!

Nice job! It’ll serve you well to know your stuff well. It’s no fun to be trying to secure a load and have to read the entire securement section because you don’t know what the regs are. You’ll still have to check the regs from time to time but the better you learn them now the easier time you’ll have once you start driving. Keep up the great work!
