well day one went pretty good of course it was class room and wow the stuff that has changed is unreal. I actually think im gonna like the ELD no more figuring out the recaps it does it all for you and tells you exactly how much time you have left on your times that’s pretty cool. There’s only 5 other students in my class and there all new drivers and you can tell there a little intimidated by it all especially after they showed a video on what you need to do to pass your cal test for the state of Arkansas. But there all good guys I think they will do just fine. I’m also liking the instructors I know I’ve read some negative posts about them from previous students and so far I don’t get it but then again this is only day one. So I’m gonna get out of here for now so be safe guys and as always god bless

well hey guys it’s been a while since I posted so let me catch you up on things. Well I’m not at Pam any longer while I was at school I had a real bad dizzy spell and about passed out so they asked me to come home and see my doctor which I did. They ran some tests and discovered I had a growth inside my skull which after more tests it was determined that it wasn’t cancerous thank god. So they treated me and then cleared me to persue my driving career. Well some things happened at Pam that I didn’t appreciate one major thing was I had an instructor who had only 2 years driving experience tell me to just forget everything I knew keep in mind that I have about 15 years of all accident free driving under my belt.who in the hell does he think he is. Anyhow this ****ed me off big time so I decided not to go back. Instead I made an appointment at our dmv and used a buddy of mines tractor and trailer and took my test which I passed with flying colors . So I’m now a licensed cdl holder and it didn’t cost me $7,000 like Pam wanted. Well my buddy decided that he didn’t feel like driving anymore and asked me if I wanted a job. Needless to say I was thrilled to death. So I’m presenting running a dedicated run from Louisville my to Cleveland Ohio for ford motor company haling engine blocks. And I’m making more per week that Pam couldn’t come close to paying any of there drivers. So there you have it your all caught up I’ll be sure to drop in once in a while so keep on trucking and be safe god bless you all

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Dedicated Run:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Congratulations!

Your experience raises some questions for me.

How did you meet the new Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements? Under these new regulations the DMV is supposed to verify your completion of a registered driver training program before they can allow you to do a driving test and issue your CDL.

I don't know how you were able to bypass all of that. Curious minds want to know.

Wasn't he the guy that previously held a CDL pre automatic days? In which case it would allow the bypass of the ELDT.... I could be wrong though.
