Hello Vik. My understanding is that after you move to the USA, you would need a USA driver’s license for at least 1 year before you can get a commercial driver’s license. (CDL).

Obtaining a Visa is not something I know anything about, but maybe someone else can help you.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Work visas are not given for truck driving jobs in the U.S.A. Trucking companies are not allowed to sponsor workers through the visa program. There are certain criminal type trucking operations who seem to find work arounds for this hindrance, but I can't recommend trying any of those tactics.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Hi, Vik, sorry, but this is all bad news for you.

The H-2B visa program allows US employers to temporarily hire foreign noncitizens to perform nonagricultural labor or services in the United States. The employment must be temporary,

#1, this visa is not permanent.

#2, CDL holders must be a "Lawful Permanent Resident".

So unfortunately you will need a US green card at the very least.
