Your post makes me think of my grandfather driving a fuel truck on the rural roads of south GA and north FL back in the 1940s. No cruise, no A/C, no power steering, no GPS, no interstate highway system.

Happy B’day sir!!!🍰🍰 We are spolied these days 🤭
Happy Birthday, Mr. NavyPopPop!
75, good job. I’m not far behind.
Too bad the temperature isn’t just 75. Lol
Happy Birthday Sir!
It's an honor for us to have you in here in the forum.
Thanks everyone,
I appreciate all the comments. I was really concerned for the safety of everyone here on TT during these brutal hot days especially you flatbedders!
I had my career and I'm sure that there were some hot ones especially without ac but these temperatures can be killers today.
Be safe all of you and thanks again. The honor is all mine to be associated with a great group which I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of you in person and hope to be able to meet some more.
Happy birthday! 🎂
My dad worked at Con-Way for 30 years (in the shop) they didn't buy trucks with AC until 2004. I don't how those guys did it, if your moving it was OK but sitting would suck.
Happy birthday young man!
Hi Bobcat Bob,
I too worked for Conway Southern Express when it opened up the Florida market. I started in 1992 and retired in 2004 as a million miler and a driver trainer. I enjoyed my career there except for the constant dock work took its toll.
The old saying is: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen “.
There are two places in the USA that are called Kitchen. One in Ohio, one in West Virginia.
Until things cool off, please don’t go to either of these places.

As I sit inside our a/c 5th wheel enjoying my 75th birthday with my bride I can't help but think about all of you hard working drivers out there.
It surely feels like the climate has gone crazy because back when I started driving in the mid 1960s those model B Mack's were hot enough. You opened the windows and the vent windows and drove as fast as they would go.
Today's trucks are really a lot more comfortable even if not as reliable but that doesn't help with the heat.
Please just be safe and cautious out there, relax and stay hydrated. I wish you all could be here in the a/c and have a piece of chocolate cake.
