If anyone can think of any companies that they might think I have a shot in getting in considering my mistake I made with TMC Transportation, please let me know. I'm sure sooner or later I'll be sending to every single solitary company out there, but maybe if you've heard of or know about a company that has hired someone that did make a mistake like mine...that would greatly help me out. Thanks everyone!

Are there any LTL companies near you? You could get a dock position and then try getting into their training program that way.

If you have a Central Transport near you I'd try there first, they are..... more forgiving.

Otherwise just keep sending out apps, try Western Express, CR England, Dutch Maid, Raider Express, maybe even food service ( as a last resort).

Sorry, this happened. TMC as always been known to be tough but when you are training student little incidents are to be expected.

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Hey all. Just wanted to give a quick update. I've got a phone interview with U.S. Xpress tomorrow at 11. Anyone know anything about them?

I know they’re about to be your savior lol. Congrats on the interview, fingers crossed it goes well!

They’re a well known OTR carrier. Brett worked for them years ago for a long time and I believe Knight owns them now.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Don’t hesitate to accept an offer from them. After I finished with Schneider, I was accepted at US Xpress and went to orientation. During my medical exam at orientation, it was on my record that I had a blood clot treated recently. The rule is that 90 days have to pass after a blood clot for medical clearance to drive. So I got sent home from there. I waited out the 90 day time period, but in the meantime I discovered Helwig and went there instead. If it wasn’t for that blood clot, I might be driving for US Xpress.

So, yes, take the job if you are invited.

Graciously take the invite and run with it! Give this your best shot. It's exactly what you need.

Hey all. Got the call in about 20 minutes from now. Pretty nervous, but trying to keep myself in check.

I know, I need to be honest. I just hope that I'm not talking myself out if a job. I'll update you after the call. Thanks everyone!

So, as much as I would love to tell you that the interview went great, instead I need to ask a question.

Has anyone ever had a phone interview set up for a specific date and time and then.....they ghost you?

I never got a call. The only way I could contact them was through email. I had the email address of the person who was supposed to call. I wrote her and asked if perhaps she got busy and if we could possibly reschedule the call. No reply as of yet. I'm not sure what to think. I'm hoping it's just a "Sunday" thing...maybe? I mean, if they went through my application prior to setting up a phone interview, to me, that's when you'd decide if you want to set one up in the first place. I'm hoping they didn't set up the interview then read my application and decided not to move forward. But, like I said, I don't know what to think. All I can do now is wait for a reply from her.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

It does seem weird it was scheduled for a Sunday. Did they specifically say Sunday? If not I’m wondering if they got their days mixed up and actually meant it for Monday
