I own a modest amount of stock in FedEx and noticed a nice move in the stock price earlier this week when they reported better than expected earnings. I didn't notice what segment of their business helped with that surprise.

One thing that did stick out with me with specific mentioned of how management felt their freight business was quite valuable and they were searching for ways to "unlock" that value for shareholders. At least one analyst opined that they were probably going to spin it off. I thought this might be tough timing with the slowdown in freight but maybe they are seeing some positive changes. I don't plan on selling my small stake but would appreciate any thoughts on what FedEx may be planning.

Harvey, I don’t know much about the FedEx business health. I just read that China’s factory output is trending down, so that one thing can have a big effect on what gets shipped. This freight recession of the past few years is still a long way from being over. Things won’t improve while interest rates are high.
