Just A Crazy Rant, Don't Mind Me...

First off, it's not like I'm on the road or anything...well, you all know. With everything that's been going on, especially this year...having to put my buddy Rusty down after 15 years because of cancer, losing my job to a guy that I trained in India, my wife leaving, finding a home for my other buddy Chance, selling practically all of my possessions just to keep the lights on and pay rent, trying my damndest to get my CDL-A permit and then my license, getting a position with TMC just to lose it in 2 weeks...well, the culmination of everything got me to open a bottle of rum. I'm not even a drinker...lol. I just felt like I needed something to relax and get my mind off of.....everything.

It's been a long, strange journey. I swear, I'm not looking for sympathy. I have only myself to thank for getting me here. All you have done was try to help and give me advice and I know you probably just see me as some weird online presence...an acquaintance in text form, I see all of you as my friends. Yeah, I'm weird...lol. I guess I'm just lonely. Probably. Most definitely. I don't know.

There's more bad news coming down the Pike. I've been doing all I can to avoid it, but some things are just unavoidable. The last day of the grace period of my rent is the 5th. I've got practically everything left of mine on Facebook Marketplace, but even if I sold all of it...it's not going to make a difference.

I'm not sure how long the eviction process is in NC, nor do I want to look that up. I really just don't want to think about it. Next month, I guess my phone will be shut off, so maybe this is just an early goodbye đź‘‹. Yes, I'm still going to apply to everything and anything out there, but I just have this feeling that mainly because of the economy that no one is willing to take a chance on me. All because of a bad turn, but I'm the one that made that turn and I have to face the consequences of it.

This morning and all day long I've been thinking a lot about my mom. We really didn't have a great relationship, but she had this uncanny ability to make me always think that everything was going to be alright, no matter what was going on. It didn't matter. She was the only one that could do that. Even though we rarely saw eye to eye...I miss her. Through all of the bullying I went through in school, the countless bloody noses and broken glasses, cuts, bruises and black eyes...she'd somehow make me feel like everything was going to be fine and I might even crack a smile. Like I said, I miss her.

Well, I'm on the 5th or 6th rum and Coke. I'm sorry, I really did need something. I'm going to end this with just a single verse of something I wrote a long time ago. I hope you enjoy it.

Hey all. I know there's been a number of drivers that have done the nomadic thing and lived in their truck for a period of time and that's ultimately what I wanted to do to be able to pay off all of my debts, save money, eventually get a plot of land and get a modular home built.

Well, I was wondering if anyone here has ever lived in their car? I mean, I figure it's the same as a truck, but obviously without the space of a truck. I had other questions though, like are there any places that you can get a shower for free? Maybe food banks to get some food? Things like that. Yes, I'm still applying to every company I can find, but I still need to be prepared for the worse case scenario.

Thanks everyone and keep driving safely!

Many truck drivers live a nomadic life to one extent or another. Learning about living a nomadic lifestyle can benefit us truckers who live in their trucks. Nomadic living in a truck, car, RV, van or camper have common elements. Researching the nomadic life has helped me greatly to be successful living full time in my Frightliner Cascadia.

The best source on the internet is : CheapRVLiving.com There are also hundreds of YouTube videos about how people do this on a long term basis.

Hi Bruce. Thank you! I'll give you a call a little later on. I'm trying to contact my dermatologist and see if he can set me up with some free samples. My psoriasis is killing me. I do greatly appreciate your time and any advice you could give me!

Let me preface this by saying: I can't believe I am actually going to type this out.

Let the eviction process play out. (I worked in a justice court for a hot minute, not in NC, but the process is similar)

How it works is the landlord has to post the "pay or quit" notice.

Landlord then files for an eviction hearing. This usually is statute controlled around 30 days maximum.

Hearing happens.

Judgement is entered.

Landlord filed for a "Writ of Possession."

W.O.P. signed by judge.

W.O.P. taken to sheriff. Sheriff comes to door and requires you to leave.

Quite often, landlords have truncated the process by offering "cash for keys." I am not advocating you attempt to hold out for this. A lot depends on how big your property manager company is.

Take a deep breath, get necessities packed into your car, get a go-bag ready. Keep applying for driving jobs. Look for "work today, paid today" temp jobs, and hustle at it.

Hi NaeNae. Thanks for your info. I'm sorry, I've never been in this situation before and I honestly didn't know what happens. Now I know.

And yes, I'm continually applying everywhere. Somebody has gotta call, text or send me an email.

Hey man, you’re obviously going through a pretty tough time and it’s ok to rant. I sincerely hope things turn around for you. You’re doing the right things and they will pay off.

I don’t mean to sound rude by asking this, but is there a reason you can’t just find a temporary job doing literally anything so you don’t lose your apartment while you search for trucking jobs? Could you find a job temporarily at a store or a fast food place? Better yet, maybe you could even find a local driving job driving class B trucks or non-cdl vehicles? Again what Im suggesting is temporary but depending on what you pay for rent it could potentially keep the lights on while you continue to apply places.

James,

Pianoman is right look for something local doing CDL B work. I don't have my a but I do have my B and drive part time making more than $27/hr. It is physical work reloading propane tank displays but gets me a good supplemental income and is fun to boot. As a CDL A holder, you can drive a dump truck, concrete truck, garbage truck with minimal physical abilities and I am willing to wager with the summer construction season there are plenty of opportunities. If you get your passenger endorsement you can drive a bus and they are always hiring no matter the location. Good luck and something will pop up, just keep trying.

Hi Pianoman. Thanks for coming up with ways for me to keep my roof over my head, but there is a good reason of why I haven't been applying to stores or fast food places near me. It's difficult to share here, but Bruce (B.K.) had called me earlier on and I just shared with him and it's five for him to share with you. It's just difficult for me to share with the whole world, but there is a solid reason for it. It was one of the biggest reasons of why I got into remote IT over 8 years ago.

Once again, thank you for trying to come with a good solution to my big problem. I greatly appreciate it.
