Prime is a family oriented company that takes things on a case by case basis. Normally you have 7 days to cancel the contract. He is beyond that now. So he is responsible for the full contract amount.
Explain to Steve Larsen or Stan Kasterke of the training dept the situation and that he intends on returning. Give a specific date. Life happens. If he truly intends on quitting, then be up front about that as well. Only Stan Kasterke would be able to make a determination of how to handle this.
Now if he has no intention of returning.. that is a different issue. People often use the "family emergency" excuse to leave then try to go to another company for training. The other company will find out and many will reject you for failure to complete a prior program. There may even be a non compete clause in the contract now. Read the contract

Asking for someone who can't get online at the moment. It's been one week to the day since orientation, and 5 days since the initial training before the test to get the license. His sister had a heart attack and stroke and he needs to go home and make arrangements to take care of his mother. Will he be penalized for quitting, or is there a week grace period or something? I looked all over Google and couldn't find one bit of information about the procedure.
