I always have provisions in the truck as well as a 72hr bag in case something did happen where I had to potentially be on foot for an extended period of time. There are other things to that I keep for my own personal safety.
Robert, I found your comment interesting. I am thinking a 72 hr bag is also known as a bug out bag.
What items do you have in the bag? That is, just the items that are not secret. I think I might get one together for me.

I keep a decent sized trauma kit with clotting compound, bandages and 5 tourniquets. There's spare clothes, socks, a camelbak water bladder with water treatment. Poncho with plenty of shock cord to make shelter if need be, silky saw, dehydrated foods and 3 days of MRE's, fire starting supplies (water proof), sleeping bag and a small cooking kit. I spend a lot of time in the woods and want the ability to get anywhere I might need to efficiently and safely.
For the most simple setup, you're going to need water and the ability to purify water. You can survive on simple food or no food for quite a while but water is a must. Medical supplies, a way to stay dry, compass or stand alone GPS and other things are a definite must. You also have to put it on and get in hiking shape because when you're on your feet, it's all legs at that point. There's an army surplus store in Idaho falls, great website too, where you can get very good equipment for excellent prices. Pack, medical kits etc can all be found on there.
Not worried about it. If I come up on a protest/mob/whatever, I'm not afraid to park the truck before I'm in the thick of it and just leave it if that's what I have to do. My life comes before the truck.
I also always carry multiple knives in the truck for work but they can always double as a self defense measure if necessary.

Idaho Falls isn't too far from me and I will be going there in a couple weeks. I looked up on Google and there are two different Army Navy supply stores. Which is the one that you recommend?
Thanks!

Hi Davy. You know, that's something I really didn't think about. I'm not stupid, I know the election is coming in a few months, but I really didn't think about the aftermath of it and I know there are a lot of crazies out there (it takes one to know one...lol).
I'm not sure about other trucking companies, but I would imagine all are pretty much the same. You aren't allowed to carry any weapons. I hate fighting anyways. I'm a lover (well, wannabe) not a fighter.
I'm not sure, but would this scare anyone off, like in the dark?
Hopefully this will not denigrate into a political issue.
There is a high likelihood of potential civil conflicts post elections according to many historical markers. To the point that vegas has very high odds on it, again, I'm not taking a stance on any side in it, just that there is a likelihood of violence, disruption of social services, transportation and infrastructure in a widespread area.
There are coalitions and groups that feel strongly that their opposition will not engage in the election process fairly, this polarized condition at a transfer of power point historically has been a major trigger for civil conflicts, in fact one of the primary reasons.
Given the conditions, I'm curious if anyone is making plans or at least doing a bit of preparation such as taking a few days off during the election and aftermath to wait and see what transpires, assuming there may be conflicts in Metropolitan centers. Or packing some extra water, food and provisions.
I'm also curious if companies are anticipating potential issues. It's certainly a vulnerable position to have assets in Metropolitan centers if widespread rioting, looting and conflicts, much less political violence erupts.

It's the Army Surplus Warehouse. There's a truck stop across the street to park at and leave yourself a bit of time to roam around because it's like walking into a Walmart of military surplus supplies. They're very nice people who can answer questions and steer you in the direction of things you might be interested in regarding preparedness.

Can’t say I’ve ever heard the term “double hater” used before.
It would appear the protesting has already started for the dnc in Chicago. For any otr drivers I’d recommend avoiding the area all together regardless of time for the entire week.
It’s going to be an interesting.
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
