My company hosted some town-hall video sessions about this to make sure we're prepared. They also send weekly emails with various safety tips and reminders about what we need to be ready for an inspection. It includes preventables and negative inspections that happened that week, what happened, the root cause, and estimated cost of repair. I learn from them. Two stand out in my mind. A failed inspection for driving with cargo/work lights on (WI) and a failed inspection for parking on a ramp in a state that bans that (MI). I knew you don't want to drive with those lights on but to that point didn't realize it was a DOT violation.
My truck and trailer just went through their annual DOT inspections but I'm parked this week.

I got pulled in for a level 4 inspection in California by CHP last Friday. Passed with no issues but they were definitely paying extra close attention to brakes. Make sure you pay extra close attention on your pretrip!
