1) Find a way to increase and improve training, especially for new drivers. Implement continuing education for existing drivers, regardless of how much experience they have.
2) Pay for all driver’s cell phone plans or have a group plan and issue company phones to each driver.
3) For the company I drive for, increase speed limiter from 68 to 70.
I would have weekly meetings showing all the blown brake chambers, air bags and other pretrip items so new drivers understand what to look for. Not just memorizing words.
I would also set up an amazing communication system so all drivers get the same information at the same time.

I can definitely get behind this. I find way too many problems others should have or they are just ignoring them.

I would do the same. Here communication varies greatly by terminal.

This is a good idea, I feel like my meet partner who is a great guy, but has been doing this 25 years, gets lax in his pretrips and hazmat paperwork.
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

At my present company, keep doing things exactly as they are, it's darn near perfect. Maybe change it to 6 days out 2 in on a rotating basis if the drivers are putting down the miles. Possibly see if there's a profitable way to run loaded backhauls as opposed to deadheads.
To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.

I'd make the pedal speed and cruise control speed match. My company has pedal speed 2mph lower than cruise, which isn't huge but seems like it would encourage cruise usage when pedal usage could be safer. I'd also increase the max speed based on where we operate. Most of my company's trucks are 63/65 with some including my fleet at 68/70. My fleet specifically goes through places with high speed limits like west Texas on tight show schedules so the extra speed would make things easier.
I'd also up our daily rate since we are one of the lower-paid outfits in the Entertainment realm and they're struggling to find drivers willing to do it.
Congratulations!! You have been promoted to CEO!!
Also, thanks for the promotion Bobcat, I finally made it! 😁
If I was the new ceo I’d stop ordering these new volvos that break down after the first 400km and spend more time at the dealership than on the road lol. Also more employee appreciation/perks. I work for my city and all I’ve gotten was a $5 tim hortons gift card for Christmas 😑 I don’t even drink coffee!

Congratulations!! You have been promoted to CEO!! What are some of the first things you change? What do you change overtime?
I'd move the requirement for 4 weeks of vacation from 15 years to 10. Plus I would give everyone in the company a extra week than they already have.
Secondly, I ld add stop pay for any stops outside the main one. So if you go to Indy then have to stop in Lafayette then Chicago you would be paid for the 2 additional stops, plus the standard mileage and drops/hooks.
