Having no money at all before going going to school is a big mistake. It will be a minimum of 4 weeks before you a actually get a paycheck. How will you eat while at school? How will you wash clothes? Or do anything that requires money? And you will need money to pay for your CDL hard copy once you get it.

this is why i decided not to go i have the upfront cost of 37.00 for the testing and my mother in law was going to cover the rest shes just broke at the moment . my dad also said he would help with my daily needs when im at school but he cant help for about two weeks .

here is the plan look for better employment than CR England i got 2 to 3 weeks i have to wait right ? so ill just stay online and submit my app to any company that i can and hope for the best but prepare for the worst .

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

If your looking to trucking as a way to make a fast paycheck and get money rolling in then you are making a big mistake. Even when you do start earning a paycheck while in training (the fourth week) it not going to be anything to write home about. Once you get into a trainers truck after you complete school you will be making .12 cent per mile for the next 3 months which is how long training last.

Make sure you save ever penny you can cause you will need it while you are in training. Hopefully you do not have anyone at home that will depend on your training pay. After the third month when you finally become a solo driver then you will start making some decent checks. But not till then.

I just want to set the record straight. CR England is just like all the other big training companies out there. They are not bad nor good. They are just exactly what they are. A training company. A place to get your foot in the door.

Being able to train in my home town allows me to utilize my husband's paycheck and eat at home and do laundry at home, and it gives me at least 5 weeks before I have to save the money to start thinking about looking for a job. and Yes I have done my research and have made myself a list. I know the fee's that are going to arise as with any new career. I feel more comfortable being in my home town, just in case something did arise Its simply a phone call to have my husband pick me up. Please, Please Look into your labor department and ask them for help and locate a school at a community college or SAGE you wont regret it and you definitely wont be stuck into a contract you will be spending the rest of your life repaying.

Guyjax, I agree with you about CR England, and I was afraid my previous post might be misinterpreted, but I was mainly trying to dissuade Tyler from taking the approach he was considering to obtain his CDL. He would have gotten the same result I spoke of from any company he tried that with because it just wasn't the right way to go about it.

I know CR England takes a beating from the whiners and complainers on the internet because they are willing to help just about anyone get a foot in the door of this industry, and that always comes back to bite them because they have tried to help a lot of losers who probably had no business trying to get started in it anyway.

It's odd how you only hear the people who couldn't make it at CR England, but you seldom hear about all the drivers on the road, maybe even working for other companies now, who got their start thanks to the willingness of CR England to help them get established in the industry.

In regards to this particular company.. What I have read a lot from women drivers is the sexual harassment issues from trainers. is there any truth to this? that really is the only thing that scares me away..
