Hey how's it going

Im sure this topic has been discussed numerous times, but I just want some input on my situation . I am a new cdl holder just graduated the troops to transport CDL School down in Ft Moore. I am having trouble getting a job I have 3 accidents in the last 4 years, 2 of them I was rear ended and 1 was I hit or the semi truck hit me on the highway lol I know he crossed in my lane and I was in his blind spot but now that im a cdl holder I can't bring myself to blame a truck diver lol. my driving record isn't much of a big deal with companies but more so my background I have a 3 year gap of not working due to helping my parents out with cancer and losing my dad to cancer also I have 2 separate situations in domestic disputes I did go to Veterans court and after 13 months I have been cleared and in the process of getting my records expunged my question is do I have to report the 2 DV cases even though its in the process of being cleared??? Im in a new chapter of life and restarting I just need some guidance

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Yikes. You are fighting a very difficult uphill battle with this. Experienced drivers with spotless records are having a difficult time finding a new job. You have multiple glaring safety issues on your record. You may not find anything before your CDL becomes "stale" which is often timed worse than having no CDL. All you can do is apply with everyone everywhere. Even class B positions. Don't omit any of your convictions, even if they are/get expunged. They can still find them.

As for readers who will see this later, this is one very good reason we recommend company sponsored training. The company would know about everything in your background up front, and accepted the driver anyway. The OP has laid out a lot of time and money, and realistically may not find a position in the driver's seat.

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
