Ok, so that wasn't too bad. I definitely see why you are really only qualified to start learning once you have your CDL. Sort of like flight school. Not qualified to do a damn thing until you put in some actual time. Much different than anything else I have driven on wheels. All in all, would have liked more driving time but who wouldn't? For a 4 week long course, I think it went pretty well. I will go in and get the actual CDL some time next week then do my adding for HAZ/Combinations. As for jobs, I think this may be where my trucking journey stops (for the time being). I am going to go back to school and finish my degree which I have put off for so long. The biggest focus, and probably the biggest factor behind this, will be my health. Gotta get back into fighting shape so I can keep doing the things I love into old age...hopefully.
I would add that Ive had many great interactions with hiring managers and recruiters in this industry and I think it's a great opportunity for anybody to pursue. I'd also say that many of the negative aspects you hear about can be avoided if you have the right attitude. What "sucks" to one person is just another Tuesday to another. I guess it's all perspective.
Well, y'all take care and thank you to everyone who responded to my other posts.
