I am going to have to buy a used truck to start . I have done a lot of reading and keep seeing all trucks have issues with the DEF System around 4-500,000 miles. Can someone tell me what these issues are

The entire system in all reality. Filters need cleaning and/or replacing about every 150k or so if you don’t idle it. Sensors start going bad and they seem to be a dominio effect. I’ve seen wiring harness’s on many need replacing. From what my mechanic has seen once you go through all the headaches it isn’t much longer till the process starts all over.

Big headache and lots of money!!

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

But also the law. You will find people talking about "deleted teucks" where the system is removed.

If caught it is a $10,000 a day fine, plus will cost that much to replace the system.

Just go company and forget buying a truck. If yiu know so little that you have to ask about the DEF, then you arent ready.

DEF system huge issues, thank the greenies ! Issues is long and never ending, I don't know the laws but 1 company I worked for completely removed the DEF system once there was a huge issue/ price to fix it, they only ran 1 state, so don't know if its a state issue ?

Nope it is a federal issue. The federal epa have been going after business’s selling or installing emissions delete products. Big fines.

Also if a delete is done then dealers will not work on the truck at all. And if the owner wants to sell it the buyer pool will be much smaller.
