To summarize this post...it's about the art of self regulation (aka not letting negative emotions control your actions/behaviors). It's a skill that is critical in trucking but really in any part of life. May as well learn it on the road.
Chronic emotional mis-management not only makes you do dumb and costly things, more research is showing that dwelling in a negative mindset promotes obesity, illness, and disease.
In the end more than half the motoring public is fundamentally incompetent at operating their vehicles and/or have severe mental/emotional issues rendering them incapable of making rational decisions.
The day you will experience the most peace in this field is when you realize that dodging rude and reckless acts by other motorists is part of the job (like your pre-trip inspection , sweeping the trailer, logging your activities in the ELD, etc).
Pre-trip Inspection:
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
