Hello Everyone My name is Michael,I had a question and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction,I made a huge mistake 3 years ago and failed a drug test for weed, I went through all the required classes and Im currently in the clearinghouse as eligable for hire, I got so frustrated that my CDL expired, are there any companies that will give me a second chance,I dont want to pay for school if nobody will hire me.Thank You

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

All you can do is apply everywhere and see who is willing to give you a shot. There are some companies that hire sap drivers, but I don’t think it is alot. Companies have had the luxury of being very picky the last couple years. Be prepared for alot of no’s, but it only takes one yes to get back in the industry.
