Wow!! You're getting off good. My trainer doesn't help me with showers at all. $13 a pop at some places. Count your blessings!

Hope under no circumstances are you supposed to pay for showers. You really need to talk to someone about this. Im a trainer and my trainees shower every day. That is how its supposed to be.

Feel bad for anyone who has to pay for their own showers. Even if it's an O/O, you get a free shower (that can be upgraded to team shower without extra cost) for every 50 gallon. Sure, they paid for the fuel or will get a surcharge, whatever. Still, free showers are given out like candy as incentives for trucker to fuel at those locations. And 50 gallon goes by quick, so end of the day, there is plenty of showers for everyone. Granted, they expire within a time frame (like a week), so there is no excuse for being stingy on the shower points. Other than that, you can ask fellow truckers because someone will be happy to donate you a shower.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.

Not really, depending on how you look at it, you (or he the O/O) gets a free shower after filling 50 gal. And since you can use 1 credit for 2 showers, it's basicly free either way.

Not really? But the O/O is paying for that fuel & if it wasn't for the O/O paying that fuel there be no "free shower" i think nothing is "free" you pay for it some way or the other.

Just because he/she's paying for the fuel doesn't mean anything, its still a free shower, your not paying for it after you fuel, you get it as an incentive for fueling. Which is still a free shower.

If you put $300 in your fuel tank and the have to go and pay $13 for a shower, thats not free, but if your puting $300 in and get a FREE shower in return.

If it wasnt the O/O paying for the fuel it would be the company which would still make the shower FREE.

It's just like the points you get for fueling. you get 1 cent for every gallon of fuel, thats technically FREE as well.

LOL! That's because YOU want to shower every day! I got to shower when my trainer wanted to shower, or when he wanted privacy in the truck to do... "things."

I had to pay for 1 shower. When my trainer left me in the truck so he could do some unscheduled hometime. I drove the truck by myself, which isn't supposed to happen BTW, and got a overweight ticket at a scale because the trainer didn't scale the load. Can you imagine being a STUDENT and getting pulled in a scale, by yourself, and being overweight!? Luckily the paperwork was in order. Needless to say, I needed a shower after that, and I didn't have any shower points. But, under the circumstances, it was ten bucks well spent.
