I was wanting to go with Prime for my cdl training so I called the recruiter I had spoke with back in December. He was not available so some woman spoke with me. I did not catch her name because the connection was not that great and in the minute I was on the phone with her, she was nasty, rude, and angered me to point I wanted to throw in the towel before I even get started. I do NOT like being disrespected and talked down to or talked to like I'm stupid, and she felt it necessary to do so. I am in the process of selling my house in Colorado & moving to South Carolina and I don't want to get my permit or do my training yet because I don't want to have to retake the tests so I was just going to wait until I get moved. However, I want to be prepared and get all my ducks in a row before I start.

That being said, I'm not very fond of the recruiter I was speaking with either. I don't understand the attitudes. Why?

Can someone recommend a recruiter that's not a complete knob, shows respect, will be patient while I ask my questions and won't lie to me? I want to train in their tanker division but if that's how they treat people, I may have to reconsider.

The woman did tell me that they don't hire for tanker out of Colorado, but what if I actually did decide to get my permit in Colorado and start their cdl training and THEN my house sells after that? Can I still not work tanker because I have a Colorado license or is it based on where I live?

Honestly, and I don't like to air my dirty laundry, but I'm going to be going through a divorce and I'm looking for something OTR because I won't be living with my wife and I want to stack as much money as possible. I do not need home time or time off. I don't do holidays, birthdays, or any other stuff that most people do. I grind. I can stay out for a year if needed. But I want to be able to speak with a recruiter and work for a company that will respect that. My goal is to stack cash & retire in 5-10 years after I start driving. Can someone help me out or even refer me to a better company? I'm 51 and current business owner/operator but the business is location specific and since I'll be getting divorced, well, ya'll know how that goes. Help!

"Trucker Kearsey" will be along in a moment. Kearsey has been with Prime for over eight years. She should be able to help you out.

I'm not Kearsey, but do work for Prime. I did not work with Dustin for my onboarding, but have heard decent things.

As for your permit, I moved from Montana to North Carolina, because we didn't hire reefer out of MT. Your DL must match your state of residence, and that is what they go off of.

Hi. If you already applied, they will not change your recruiter. If u didnt apply, you can get someone else. I always send ppl to Nikki Yost. I have met her personally and she is no nonsense and honest.

Keep in mind that recruiters are paid by commission... so if you are not serious to go within 30 days, you are wasting their time or creating double the work for them. One driver on this forum called his recruiter weekly for 6 months then was shocked they finally just turned him down and said they were not hiring. It is like going to a car salesmen every day and never buying. That is not a reason to be rude though. It may have been frustration she felt she was wasting her time. I don't know, rudeness has not been my experience. But... as a trainer I have met more and more entitled students who want what they want and do not want to hear what reality is. I cannot even imagine being a recruiter.

As for training, they could bring you in for reefer then transfer you to tanker when your house sells. But be aware.... say it takes six months to sell the house.. even if you have been upgraded to your own truck.. prime will have you do 2 weeks with a tanker trainer before switching.

But be warned... i personally would recommend getting the divorce and selling the house before you go otr. Getting home for multiple meetings, appointments, and even getting your mail and notifications in a timely manner could be difficult. I go home once a month and i missed a couple document servers during a lawsuit. It was a pain.

Good luck!
