I was towed today for the second time in 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago it was 2025 tractor that freaked out on me randomly and derated me. First the dashboard radar started going nuts, then the check engine and stop engine lights came on and it slowed me down. After I pulled onto the shoulder I let it sit for a few minutes and it was saying to put truck in neutral to start while it was in neutral, so it wouldn't let me start it. Finally it let me drive a few miles to a off ramp and they sent a tow truck to pick me up.

Since my truck is still at a dealer in Indy I've been using this one 2018 with 890k miles on it, other than the seat sinking while driving it was running good. However today it decided to be difficult, the check engine light came on and the truck kept accelerating on it own! I shut the cruise control off coming into the construction zone but the truck kept trying to speed up, I tried the cruise cancel button, even shut it off but it kept trying to accelerate. I was able to use the brakes to slow down but if I let off the pedal it would start speeding up. I got pulled over and stopped on the shoulder when I put the truck in neutral it started revving up on its own.

Luckily I get breakdown pay at our hourly rate so I am not out any money, just aggerating days. It had been about 5 years since I late needed a tow, now I've had 2 in 2 weeks.

Ouch, I’ve heard and seen people we these newer trucks having problems all over. Breakdown pay is at least something.

Paccar has recalls on about 400k trucks from 2000-2025 models and others probably do to. I only keep up with Paccar.

With all the stuff they put on them these days it really isn’t a suprise though.

I keep my old truck in good shape and plan on keeping it. The cost of purchase and maintance on new ones isn’t worth it to me.

What is your run now? Don’t think you’ve mentioned that yet.

A lot of our 25 Freightliners have had problems I've heard. My previous meet guy had one that would just derate to 55 randomly but it wouldn't say anything on the dash about why.

I have a 10 am meet in Richmond IN, I meet a driver from Columbus OH then I head to Chicago.

It's about a 12 hour day unfortunately, but it's like 2200ish a week so there's a trade off.

My assigned truck made it back after a month from Indy. Used it yesterday for first time and it still isn't right. The On Guard (I hate that system) is showing errors, cruise and eng brake are not working, so I left it at the shop again.
