After The Recruiter Gets You Onboard (allegedly) Who's Your Point Of Contact From There?

I agreed to a start date with nothing more than phone assurance from the recruiter. Hardly a contract but it seems like their job is to just shove your credentials along the assembly line up to a point and then get back to the calls and smooth talking with other potential hires. Emails now go unanswered making me wonder if you cease to be the recruiter's concern or you're not in their lane anymore? So who do you talk to in order to ensure your place in the orientation (a month and a half from now) is secure? Is this common practice among recruiters - just to jack up numbers and fill spots?

I've noticed a lot of companies use the Pulse by Tenstreet app to manage documents and communication. I find its functioning to be spotty at best, and I wonder just how secure my documents are sitting on the site.

Just sitting in limbo now passing time and hoping everything is squared away on the company's end. Will they reach out as it gets closer to the date they gave me (May 12th) and assure me that my travel and accommodations are in order, or do you really have to be proactive about lighting fires under them. (I'm not one to just sit back and hope other people have their s completely together.)

My experience was my recruiter was my direct point of contact until my first day of orientation in which my trainers were my direct point of contact. Then, once released “to the line” and solo, you’re assigned a driver leader who is your direct manager and point of contact for virtually everything.

In your situation right now though, you should still have open communication with your recruiter who extended the employment offer. They are still your direct contact and should be able to answer any questions. I know personally for me, mine was available for both emails and phone calls and we talked several times between the time I was offered and accepted my employment offer and my first day of training/orientation - which was about 1 month. Hired mid June, started mid July.

Time to chill. They do this everyday, unlike you. They will reach out with the final information you need when you need it.

45 days out is an enternity. Have faith and don’t be a pain in the butt.

Yes, your POC is your recruiter until you are released to your dispatcher. However, depending on your company, your trainer might get a bonus after you work for the company for 90 days or something. So keep their phone number on your phone for a while longer.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Most recruiters are not interested in people until 30 days before orientation. Why?

1. People change their minds

2. Legally they need a new background check within 30 days of starting day. So 45 days out means nothing. You could get a speeding ticket or have an accident between now and then that could eliminate you. My guess is 1 month prior, they will ask you to reapply

3. Recruiters are paid on commision. They dont get paid until you arrive at orientation. Until then, you are like a buyer wasting the time at a used car lot. That salesman is letting real buyers slip away while you ask questions. Then you say "im not buying for 2 months". But the next person is willing to buy right now. Who will they help first?
