I agree. i love the older trucks before all the arodynamics. one modern truck i think looks really cool though is the international lonestar. really stylish truck in my opinion.

Lone stars also have a Harley Davidson edition too. That Coronado looks a lot like a Freightliner Classic too. Wonder if they are one and the same?

When it comes to how a truck looks though, I'm with the TMC guys. I just can't resist a shiny black Peter.nullshocked.png

The Coronado is the replacement for the Freightliner Classic and is just about as fuel efficient as the classic. It's heavier than heck. More and more companies are moving a way from the classic type of truck.

If I had my choice between a kw900, 379 pete of a Cascadia I would grab the Cascadia in a heartbeat. For one I like the space. Mush more than the kw or pete. The old classic trucks are noisy as hell while going down the road. You have to almost yell to be heard by your Co driver in the passenger seat.

And let's not forget the difference in turning radius. Getting one of those old classic style trucks to do an about-face in tight quarters...just no. Much less backing into a tight dock. Oh, it can be done...as long as you don't mind spending 45 minutes backing up and pulling forward 3 inches at a time. And having to hang out the driver's door because you can't see past the stacks running down the sides of the truck.

Petes and kenworths and I really like the look of the lonestar but fir the classic look and room to spare in the cab, hands down it has to be the Western Star. Yeah kinda partial to them.

I have also seen what happens to one when it goes into the median and hits one of those emergency vehicle turn arounds at 65 mph... only a bent front axle. That to me says a lot about the durability.

You can get them with a more aerodynamic hood but for me with the weights I pull (100k plus) and the mountain passes it really does not matter.

Although for fleets, vocational is where you will see most of them as they are more of an owner operator type of truck.

Owner Operator:

An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.

Our last three trucks were starships....I loved 'em then and I love 'em now. But I liked them better before Freightliner got their cheap hands on them. The original Western Stars were the limo of the trucking world....

The ones that I have seen still are. BTW Freightliner did not buy them, Diamler did. they just happen to also own Detroit and Freightliner.
