Now THAT"S called hitting the nail on the head!! Nice post, Tarren J.

I love that guy. I went to his website he had a while back where he was talking about people who refuse to do a manual labor job or some sort are always unhappy yet those that had a manual labor job or something on those lines usually always felt pride in what they did and that they accomplished something. People need to stop being selfish in what they are looking for in a career. Now yes we should all do what we enjoy but that cant always be the case but none of us should ever EVER work somewhere that u cant have pride in what you did for the day. Like someone said in the truck stop shower thread, the janitor takes pride in making those bathrooms clean for those to use that hardly see their own home let alone their one bathroom or shower.
Now THAT"S called hitting the nail on the head!! Nice post, Tarren J.

Thanks Jopa!
While I completely agree with Mike Rowe I can't help but make fun of the guy that wrote in to Mike. So here it goes. .....
How dare Mike not support one of his fans. Mike did not encourage him in the least. Basically told him to get off his butt and keep a job. How could Mike Rowe not support the poor guy when he clearly wants the perfect job though they do not exsit? How dare Mike give the guy some good advice and not support his dream of sitting at home eating chetos all day long until someone chases him down and begs him to take a job.
Oh wait. What was that? You mean that someone that has literally done hundreds of jobs and has experience MIGHT know what they are talking about!!?????? Say it ain't so?
OK now in all seriousness Mike's advice was dead on. And when you ask a person or group of people questions and cause you don't like the answers does that mean to stomp around like a little kid and sulk in the corner or do you think there might be a reason for why you are getting the answers you are getting.

Excellent post... he really did nail it!! If anyone should have a proper outlook toward work/job/career and life in general it is Mike Rowe. He has seen the depths at which some people go to do a job and to do a "dirty job" well. With a smile!
Thanks for sharing this Tarren!

You're very welcome!

That should be the cover page of every job application. No one will ever come out and say that Mike is wrong but the sad fact is people have hatred for the values and truths that Mike has espoused. Everyone wants what they want and wants it now but some people think it's someone else's fault when they don't get it. I've never gotten he whole "nanny state" mentality and I really think it's killing the USA. Or maybe I'm just getting old and grumbling about "kids these days."
I think Brett and Mike Rowe went to the same school of "telling it like it is . . . " where the emphasis is on diplomacy . . . NOT!

I wanted to share this with everyone, as I feel it sums up alot of what I've read here and in Brett's book.
Mike Rowe's career advice
Tell me what you think.
