Look everywhere, ahead, mirrors, and even over your left shoulder out your widow. I've been run off the road and almost hit because drivers look in the mirror but fail to look over their left should. Good luck.
Well, if you don't look out your left "window" you might create a "widow" eh?

Always remain calm no matter what happens around you. Way easier said than done of course, but nothing is more critical than being able to think clearly under pressure. I always like to say the "Golden Rule" of trucking is simply "don't hit anything". Keeping it simple like that always helped me stay calm and focused in stressful situations. Instead of worrying about 75 things at once, just try to relax and remember, "As long as I don't hit anything all of this will soon pass and it will make for a great story someday."
Breathe and relax. Remember, your thoughts are what determine your actions. If you can't think clearly you can't act properly.

More of the Buddhist stuff
Apparently there are some good driving habits to have when driving a big rig such as reading every road sign as you drive. What are other good bits of information that a good instructor would most likely teach?
always look back at our tandems when making turns "ALWAYS CHECK THEM TANDEMS"
A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".

Always have a safe " out "
If you are on the highway do everything you can to not drive next to someone . Traveling in the right lane keep a large follow distance in front , if there is someone on the left lane that will prevent you from using that lane lay off the accelerator a bit .
You can not see someone behind you in your flat mirrors ..unless they are something like 800' feet behind you . Every now and then during a mirror check angle slightly ( stay in your lane ) so you can mirror check whats in your lane behind you .
ALWAYS provide yourself a way out of a bad situation .
