Can someone explain to me exactly what this statement means? Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
It means the trailer being pulled must have a GVWR of more than 10000 pounds. The 26001 has to do with the COMBINATION of all units involved....the truck and what is being pulled....trailer or trailers, tank, flatbed. Keep in mind, it is the RATING for all of those combined. The actual weight will be different depending on the combination and the cargo weight.
GVWR is the maximum operating weight of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer, minus any trailers.
The GCWR refers to the total weight of a vehicle, including all trailers.
That's for a CDL A , 26,001 total combination with a trailer over 10,000 rating. Example my race car rig is a 1 ton Ford F350 duallie 10,000 lb rating with a 42' triple axle trailer with an 18,000 lb rating, bingo I got ticketed for not having a CDL A , and Medical card.. I have a question, what License do I need to drive my F350 (10'000) with my 2 axle trailer (12'000) which ends up being 22,000 CGVW ? Thanks Dan
