Hey floydborga - that's a pile of good news all in one shot! Congrats!!!
Well I'm sure you've heard us say plenty of times already that your time on the road with a trainer and those first few months running solo are the toughest of your career. So prepare yourself mentally for what will be several months of ups and downs, hard lessons, and stress....but also (hopefully!) a lot of fun! It's super exciting to get out there doing it, but it's going to have some rough patches along the way. Just keep learning, keep a great attitude, and stick with it.
Way to go Floyd!
I see Melton trucks at a lot of the places I go to. I've been keeping my eyes open for Larry E. - now you give me another Melton driver to look for! Once you get established over there let us know what your truck number is. I drove by the Melton terminal in Tulsa the other day, they are building a beautiful new building there, and from what I can tell the company is growing and prospering.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Congrats!!! Keep up the great work and I'm sure your gig with Melton will be a good one. I look forward to giving the same kind of report in about 1 month.
After 2 1/2 weeks of hard work, they had me test early and passed my pre-trip, skills and road test on Wednesday on first try. Today is my last day here, it wasn't easy, it took a lot effort and dedication to get thru these three weeks with a CDL in hand, but it paid off. While here and again with a lot persistence and hard work on my part(things won't just fall into your lap), I was able to get pre-hires from a few more companies and especially from a great company that is Melton truck lines. Leaving for Tulsa, OK orientation on the 23rd...
It is just the coolest thing to see this kind of testimonial that bears witness to the foundational TRUTH of this website (after all, what's in a name, anyway?) Hard work, perseverance, honesty and ethics (especially a good WORK ethic) will pay off. There are so many other places in life - especially the working world - where this just isn't the rule. There cannot be this many people making it work for themselves if it wasn't just how Brett and everyone else presents it here. Too cool!!

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Hi Guys, just a quick update on my situation. First I would like to thank people on this site for help and encouragement given to me thru my ordeal and effort on becoming a truck driver, it has paid off. For those that don't know or remember, I was having trouble getting pre-hires form companies because of a suspension on my DVR and a work gap. After research and effort was able to get a pre-hire from PTL(could have also have gone to Swift, CRST and CR England training schools), I decided to go private and attend TDI in Indianapolis.
