Brett, I'm kind of neutral on this one. I'm just not a big video guy. When I first started researching trucking, I tried using YouTube some, but I just didn't care for most of what I saw. The other side of the coin is that I don't make video either. I realize I'm one of the "older" members (though I'm not as ancient as Daniel likes to think) and maybe that has something to do with my lack of interest in videos.
Having said all that, I realize there are folks here who probably have great talents and skills with video. It might prove very interesting to see what some of them come up with in the future. I still wish I'd had a dash-cam when that Little old lady in the Subaru came careening into my path out in Colorado, that would have mad some incredible video. Who knows, maybe I'll learn to produce some of my own videos one day.
I'm gonna say go for it. I think it would be well received.
I'd say yes. In addition to all the informative videos out there, there are a TON of "don't let this happen to you" type videos as well. Two that immediately spring to mind are one where a driver absolutely destroys his truck trying to do a U-turn on a 2-lane road and another where a driver has an unsecured and unwrapped pallet fall out of his trailer backing into a dock.
Have any of you guys seen the recent video of that truck that should have tipped over but the driver saved it... I bet he had to change his shorts
You know that guy had to do a clothes change...
Brett, I think a video section would be great. ARe you going to compile video from YouTube? Are you just going to include video from members of TT?
I love the idea. And to address the point of the videos that are of poor quality for some, have some sort of ratings system. Something where if enough people watch it and rate it poorly you remove it as to not waste anyone else's time. On the flip side the higher rated ones get moved to the top of the "recommended" list. Just a thought

I was thinking about adding a video section to TruckingTruth. Youtube has thousands of fantastic trucking videos covering every topic imaginable:
- inside the cab tours
- cooking recipes and tips!
- pre-trip inspections
- life on the road
- company reviews
- exercise ideas
- electronics reviews (GPS, smartphones, etc)
- training at truck driving school
....a million things for truckers!
What do you guys and gals think? Should I put up a video section with categories and a suggestion box so people can recommend great videos?
Pre-trip Inspection:
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
