Well all, I've known this for a few days but I've been fighting the fact that my apartment got flooded during Monday's storms here in Northern Ohio. To top it off I've been Evac'ed until they can clean all the mess up.

Now on to the good news...

I've been approved to join Prime. As is stands the plan is to head out and start June 9th.

You made a good choice in Prime Inc...I just finished my PSD phase with Daniel B. our Resident Expert and PSD Trainer here at Trucking Truth for Prime Inc.. Make it easier on yourself get your permit and tanker and the doubles and triples endorsements before you get here.

Ken

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.
  • Get 75 hours of behind-the-wheel time with one-on-one student/instructor ratio.

Man I wish I could go to Prime...

Bill, just realize that if you were to go to Prime, your home time would be very limited. You are allotted 1 day for every 7 you are out and can only take a max of 4 at a time. They usually require you to be out 4 weeks before you can take home time.

Just wanted everyone to know/realize this up front in case that had not been explained by the recruiter.

Another Prime choice. Good deal. I am just completing my orientation week and will start my PSD training tomorrow morning. I have met some great people and I am glad I chose Prime and that they approved me. Congrats on your approval, and good luck.

Oh, I'm from Lima, Ohio though that's not my current home location.

Just picked up my shiny new CDL Permit today. dancing.gif

I'm just mad it took me 2 days. Of all the tests I took, ie: Gen Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination, and Tanker.....I failed the tanker test the first time. shocked.png Went back today and flew through it.dancing-banana.gif

I will say that the High Road Training Program would be a great tool...unfortunatly my brain just wasn't getting it. confused.gif So I went to the BMV and got the book (Maybe I just needed to see the Hard Copy). Then I used Brett's Mobile App and practiced the questions. thank-you.gif This seemed to be the better option for me.

Either way, looks like I'm one step closer to being ready to head out there. June 9th can't come soon enough!smile.gif
