I have a question I hope someone can answer. I want to drive but due to pass legal problems I'm having a hard time finding a school or a company that will hire me. I have a SIS felony and I'm on probation for 4 more years. My probation officer is backing me 100%. My driving record is clean. The charges was not drug or alcohol related or a violent nature. What I'm looking for is a company sponsored training program. Most company's have a rule of at least 7 years after the probation is done before they will hire you. I don't want to wait till 2024 to drive! Any info or advice on how to get started driving will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

Not much that can be done. Companies want you off paper free and clear. As long as you are on probation then I doubt any companies will touch you because they can't tell you to make a move without you having to clear it through you probation officer first.

I am sure you can find a school out there to teach you but getting getting a job will be next to impossible. Felonies, no matter what kind, have time limits on them in the trucking industry. Most if not ALL companies want at least 5 to 10 years of time between the end of your sentence and you looking for a job in the trucking industry......End of sentence means probation also. You have to be free and clear. Only thing holding you back is that time limit and it will not start counting towards the 5 to 10 years until you are completely done with probation.

Sorry I did not have better news for you but that is the way it is.

Yeah, Guyjax is totally right I'm afraid. I can tell you almost 100% that no company-sponsored programs are going to take you. You could find a private school that will take your money but again I'm almost 100% certain you're not going to be able to find a job afterward.

Trucking is all about liability risk and companies are just not willing to take chances on people. They want to see quite a number of consecutive years of clean living before they're willing to have a look.

How about if you are of probation with a CWOf and case dismissed. Will they hire with that on record.

I'm not really sure. That would probably vary from company to company so you'd have to speak with some of them individually to see what they say.
