Great job Randy! I had high hopes for you after seeing how well you absorbed all the information when you were watching me and Ken practice on the pad. I hope I gave you a huge jump start with that!

I hope you do well with your TNT trainer, remember there are hordes of trainers that are looking for a student, sometimes for months, so if you don't like yours you can easily get a new one. Don't force yourself to suffer during this phase.

Yes Daniel, that time on the pad helped me more than you might have thought. My confidence level went up that day. Thank you for that, your knowledge, encouragement, and example. I'll keep the updates coming.

Be blessed and be safe.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

Congratulations! Is Prime still paying a bonus for a trifecta? I think I got $250 and my instructor got $900 when I trifecta'd. I stayed with him for TnT , we got along well.

Yes it is my understanding they do. The bigger bonus is that I got rid of the most rude, inconsiderate, impolite, and angry-at-the-world person as my instructor..........and that now I get to earn a paycheck!!!

Hey Randy Congrats on the Trifecta...Sorry to hear you had a Crappy PSD instructor, it's a shame that there is such a shortage of Good Qualified PSD Trainers at Prime but Prime Inc is a good company and I'm glad I was able to get through it and into TNT...all the difference in the world.

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.
  • Get 75 hours of behind-the-wheel time with one-on-one student/instructor ratio.
  • Earn 10,000 miles toward total 40,000 miles needed.

Congratulations Randy!

It seems like you just sailed right through. Seriously, it seems like you just joined the forum, then next thing we knew you were sending us these really great reports from school, and now your licensed. Some of you guys are really making us proud over there at Prime. My experience was that my time with my trainer was the most difficult part of my training experience. We just didn't really fit together - but I still managed to learn a lot and sort of endured my way through it all. Hope you get a really great training experience, but if you don't just realize that the most important learning experience will come after you start running solo in your own truck.

Congratulations! Please, if you can, keep sending some of those great reports about the next phase of training - there will be countless others coming in here later on who will benefit greatly from them.
