Hey so my BP is about 145 over 95 ish i was wondering will that be a problem when i go to prime.

But sometimes its like 130 over 80ish. Like today it was 146 over 94 and then at night it was 138 over 88 i don't know which one to go by.

your BP will determine how long your medical card will be good for.. if its under 140 you'll get a 2yr lic, but above that and your looking at a 6month to yr lic.... Prime may also de-qualify you as well.. Worst thing a trucker can have is high BP..... some exercise for 20min a day will help lower it... Ive been working on that and dropped from 135 to 120... 10 more points and Im back to my normal area....

Over 140/90 and you get a ticket home from Prime (actually, YOU have to buy the ticket) so do some stuff to control the high BP before you get there . . .

Deep breathing whilest they test is a key factor too.. Over stressing will cause you to have high BP.

I'm starting with FFE on July 7.......their requirement for BP is 140/90 or lower.....I'm guessing prime is similar

BP Requirements are a DOT Medical Requirement.

Anything higher and you can get ONE (and ONLY ONE) 6 month card. If you are on BP Meds to get down to (under) 140/90 - you get a 1 year card.

Most companies are not going to want to take on someone who cannot pass this basic DOT Mandated Requirement.

If you can't get below that - and you are NOT ON MEDS - than likely you need to be. If you ARE ON MEDS, and cannot get below that - then they need to be adjusted.

I found, for myself - that my hypertension is directly linked to MY WEIGHT. I can drink all the coffee & smoke all the cigs I want - unmedicated - at under 200 lbs and still score an acceptable BP. At 225lbs, can't do it without meds.

ASIDE FROM passing a company/DOT physical - a BP over the requirements, untreated can be a serious PERSONAL HEALTH RISK.
