Loocked like you got hit from behind too, saw the truck kind of jerk forward, was that just a bad gear change?

bummers on the day.. Atleast you had the cam.. Something Im thinking of investing in when I get back out.

I was a bit shook up and a bit in shock cause I could not believe that just happened. shifted from 10 down to 4th gear and dumped the clutch almost killing the truck.

Wow, sorry this happened but thanks for posting it. It's a great teaching tool for us newbies. Question, what is dumping the clutch, is that the same has popping the clutch?

i just bought that one, it is not as fancy as Guys but its easier on the wallet.

It's not about being fancy. It's about about video clarity for day AND NIGHT driving. Since my truck runs 24/7 non stop I needed good video all the time. Not just during the day. The cheaper cameras are not worth spit during the night time. I needed night time video also. Accidents don't just happen during the day.

I'm going to invest in one......people are crazy and most of time they are going to blame the other driver no matter what! Do you only have one came ? Do you plug it in? Do you leave it on the dash at all times? Well I guess I mean if it holds up to the heat and or cold well? Really we all should have one. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Guy - nice driving-truly saved the day for a lot of others with your skills.

What type of camera do you use? I have been checking out the Go-pro's, but I know there are many different ones for sale.

The drive cam I have is not longer made. The link below is to their flaghip camera. The main difference to the one linked below and mine is the one linked has GPS and also tracks your speed.

My dash cam runs 24/7. Even at night if we do happen to shut down for the night. It's on an 8 hour loop. Meaning it will record for an whole 8 hours before it loops back and records over the oldest video. I even leave it running when we both are out of the truck cause you never know of when someone will hit you and run off. It breaks the video up in 2 minute or 3 minute or 5 minute sections so it's easier to find stuff. While it's not the cheapest camera in the world you must know I need video of day and night driving and need it to be clear. While it's cant read the plates at night it shows a very good picture of what happened and how the accident developed.

I have a 2nd cam I use for recording inside the cab but I decide who sees that footage and how much of it.

Real life indeed. as a former 2 wheeler of many years I see a similarity. 18 wheels you worry about killing other people and must drive accordingly - on 2 wheels you need to worry about other people killing you and must drive accordingly. Ultimately it's about avoiding contact I suppose. In those days I had an airhorn (small) installed on the bike and used it liberally! The aural bumper had saved me many a time.
