I'm going to be scheduling my exam to obtain my Class B CDL License in Ohio soon, and I had a couple questions.
For starters, the third party testing center I will be using rents a truck of their own. It's a 24' Box Truck with an 8 speed manual transmission. I recently rented a similar truck where the only difference so far as I could tell is that it had an Automatic transmission. I asked the testing center if I would be able to provide my own truck with an automatic transmission, and they said that was okay, but the place I rented it from said it was a "non CDL vehicle". What the heck does that mean? That it doesn't weight over 26,001 lbs? I was confused about this.
I plan to drive a Dump Truck for my father, and step-mother, and I have had some experience in doing so. Would they put a restriction on my license for automatic transmission only if I were to use an automatic trans equipped vehicle?
Also, if any has recently had to take the exam, are there any pointers, specifics, things i can expect that you can share with me?
