Hey, Amazon is working on delivery drones for things like that. I need to get me one! Heck, I already know your location through GPS. You don't even have to tell me where you are. I'll just hook up a head of lettuce to the drone and it will find you.
Actually, I just bought a rotisserie rated at 50 pounds. I need to bring that up to the truck stop and have a big BBQ!
I wonder how a little farmer's market type produce stand would work at a truck stop - like near the building or someplace convenient for drivers to get to. I mean, if you had a cart full of a huge variety of farm-fresh veggies, you would think people would scoop em up. I mean, it's hard to get that stuff when you're truckin. How many places really have a great variety of fresh fruits and veggies? Hopefully a lot more places in the coming years.

Let us know the where & when and maybe a few could get a load scheduled and make an appearance . . .

I'll tell you what I'm hoping to do. I'd like to go to the NHRA race in Reading, PA the first week in October. I won't know until a few weeks before that if I'll be able to or not, but we'll see. I'll definitely be packing my rotisserie and some very big roasts, chickens, and turkeys to cook up. I would announce it here if that trip becomes a reality.
I'm also a very big fan of putting your entire body through its full range of motion every day if possible. I use Yoga to do it, but there are plenty of ways. Stretching every muscle to the max and putting every joint through its full range of motion is critical to maintaining flexibility, putting your body in proper alignment, and preventing injuries. It also helps to flush out toxins and improve circulation. We don't lose our strength, balance, and flexibility over time because we're getting old. We lose it because we stop using it. There are 85 year old yoga instructors that have better flexibility and balance than most 25 year old professional athletes.
Studies have also been done that show men will not lose any muscle whatsoever from ages 30 through 60 if they maintain a modest strength training regiment or heavy lifting lifestyle. So the idea that "I'm getting old" at 45 or 50 is a proven fallacy and there are thousands of people out there that prove you can remain limber and strong throughout your lifetime.
You don't have to be "extreme" to be healthy. You have to be extreme to reach an elite level, but you only have to do a few simple things consistently to be very healthy and fit.
That's one thing that makes me a little nervous about truck driving -- staying healthy. Daniel B.'s posts detailing his excursions with his new bike are particularly inspiring; I'm thinking I definitely want to start that as soon as I can.

Now this is a fantastic idea! I've already been looking at hydroponics gardening, and thought for a time about setting up my own roadside produce stand. Maybe I can still do something like this in a future, and pay someone to run the stand for me at truck stops or terminals. I have to imagine that the average trucker is very deficient on fresh foods.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

By choice. There are plenty of ways to eat health and get fresh non processed foods but most don't even want to try.

I'm VERY interested in your technique . . . I'd LOVE to get some good food out there . . . whenever we have passed roadside stands, my trainer always says there is "no place to park . . . " which I guess is true mostly but I'd sure like to make a try at it . . .

This isn't going to happen anytime soon, but I've been interested in hydroponics farming for a while now. I also have a friend who's made quite a hobby out of designing and creating more advanced and efficient LED grow light arrays optimized for plant growth. He also recently took a business trip to Texas to help design and build a self-sufficient growing shed, complete with automated watering systems. It's not completely self-sufficient, as you'll want to be monitoring the system on occasion, not to mention adding nutrients on a regular basis, but it's designed for minimal work.
I've been thinking hard that I'd want to get something like this going for myself in the future, just so I can have quality fresh produce to take with me when I'm done with home time. Yes, you can always pick some up at Wal-Mart, but considering their usual sources, IMO it's not much better than just getting canned food-like industrial byproducts and eating that instead.
But this is all in the future.

...wow, I mangled that blockquote reply rather nicely, didn't I?

Brett,
You should add a function on your web site where people on the road (like me) can order up some fresh veggies and you ship them to some place (I haven't thought that through yet) and can have some GARDEN FRESH food instead of the rotgut stuff most grocery stores sell . . . seems the only groceries that are readily available are from Walmart because the big parking area (and sometimes permission to park overnight) make them accessible. I am only half joking here. If there was some real food available to be shipped like that I'd pay for it. The fast food junk at the truck stops is pretty darned expensive when you add it all up. Add in the bad health consequences and the cost goes through the roof . . . just a thought . . .
