How in the world did he fail the sim test? It's a videogame. He must have done something extremely stupid like run over people or probably drove like he was playing Grand Theft Auto.

I really don't have an answer for you. There's very few ways you can fail it.

I have no idea what the "SIM" test is. But Danial, wasn't your response a little rude?

Anyone can have a bad day. Everyone makes mistakes. And as the old saying goes, S*** happens.

He could have been distracted for some reason. No one is perfect.

It is a good thing this happened in class and not on the road.

Keep it safe out here, the life you save might be your own. Joe S.

Ok, let me clarify more.

There are no distractions with the sim test because there's nothing around you to distract you. It's you and a screen.

Remember when you used to go to an arcade and sit in the seat and play Nascar using the pedals and a steering wheel? That's essentially what it is. You have a screen in front of you with a few controls.

Let me also say that Prime gets close to 100 students every week using the simulator. No one using the simulator knows what they're doing so it's obvious the expectations are low.

You're expected to grind gears. You're expected to miss a shift. You're expected to drive like a rookie. You're expected to make mistakes.

You're not expected to run pedestrians over, or drive like a madman. That's what they're looking for. They want someone who is safety concerned. They'll learn the skills in training.

I'll say it again, failing the sim test means you did something absolutely unacceptable, in other words, reckless.

No one goes on that simulator and drives like a pro, it's quite different than a real truck. But that doesn't change the fact that they expect you to make errors. You're a student after all.

They call it a simulator because it sounds more serious and professional. Also, admitting you spend thousands of dollars on a videogame makes you seem foolish. Thus, Prime calls it a simulator. But in my opinion, you're not wrong to call it a videogame.

I know it sounded rude what I said but it's the truth. And truth sometimes hurts. I don't think it was rude at all. Failing the simulator is just the worst start you can get.

If you do your best you'll pass. Watch for the pedestrians, you'll know they're testing you so obviously they'll send a few your way. Watch your downhill speed and brake exactly like you learned when you studied for your permit. Don't brake hard on snow/ice and drive slow.

Just do your best and you'll pass. I really cannot fathom why anyone would fail it. Especially when there are dozens and dozens of students taking it every week with no experience and they don't ever have a problem.

I hope that settles it. Jeez

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Exactly my point... And if they did all of that and the bosses got a giggle out of it and said it was cool then how far down do you need to go to actually fail it?

That's exactly my point and you just proved it. You have to drive like a complete maniac to fail it. I'm not being rude or harsh, it's the truth.

If someone actually got hit by a train, hit pedestrians and probably even more errors and they still didn't fail then how much more devastation does it take to actually fail it?

I stand correct.

Well my roommate here at campus inn had to test out on the SIM to get a TnT so idk maybe there is a test you can fail. But he went to swift training then came here. He was with swift for one month.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
