While everyone's experience is always different I have to say that my experience was not a good one. I went through orientation on 1/27/15, i came packed and preparex so I was able to leave the same afternoon. I called my trainer and he s a id to meet him at 3pm because we were headed to Denver. He called me back a few minutes later and said meet him at 2pm. We met up, loaded my stuff in the truck and he decided to take me on a tour of the yard and meet dispatchers, etc.. we finally took off and headed up 287 northbound. We stopped in Rhome where he let me take over driving since he had been driving all day. I started driving and he said he would take back over in Boise City, OK. So he takes back over and gets a call from a dispatcher wanting him to help a driver that is driving overweight get around the scales. So we take a bunch of back roads and by doing that it made us late for our delivery time. We ended up taking our delivery to a different place and were dispatched to another load and moved on. During my trip I found this trainer to be a very sad and miserable person that I could not stand to be around. In the 5 days I was on the road I was not given any chance to take a shower (i realize that being on the road you can't take a shower every day but 5 days?, come on). In the days i was with him all he did was stay on his phone all day and night and never really answered any of my questions. On 2/1, we had a delivery in San Antonio at a tight location, and was a backup i never had seen so i asked if i could observe him only to be yelled at "you dont watch me, i watch you". At this time i decided i was never going to learn anything with this trainer and told him i wanted to go back to fort worth. On 2/3, i went in to talk to my recruiter and his boss, i shared with them the things i observed with this trainer including HOS log issues and they seemed like they could care less. I am not sure if the owners are aware or if they care. I did manage to drive about 2000 miles in the short time, managed to accurately maintain my logs and use the qualcom accurately, sadlythe only this trainer taught me was how to use his gps.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
