Richie, Knight is a great operation, and we've had several of their drivers in here at different times. I don't recall if they have a school, I'm thinking that they don't, so you would need to get your schooling elsewhere. You can still go ahead and apply so that you can get a "pre-hire" letter from them, that is always a good idea. If you are not familiar with the trucking industries practice of sending "pre-hires", you can follow this link on Understanding Pre-Hires , and then you will be up to speed on it.
Take a tour through the Truck Driver's Career Guide, and enjoy reading through Brett's Book, it's a free online version.
Feel free to ask as many questions as you like, we'll do our best to steer you in the right direction.
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Knight Transportation runs its own Company-Sponsored Training through a sister company called Squire Transportation.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
Thanks Anchorman, I knew if I just threw something like that out there you would look it up. You're the man!
Oh man, I missed my opportunity to correct Old School. I don't get that opportunity often! Today is already looking like a bad day!
I work for Knight. I dont really understand what you are asking. I think you are talking about the email they send with all the documents you will need to have completed before you go to orientation. If you completed an application and they go through the preliminary checks to see that you meet the minimum qualifications, they will send you all the docs needed for a thorough background check.
Hope that helps

No problem! A little bit of teamwork is always helpful.
And after I filled it out I was told that they got my info and will contacted me soon . wasnt long that I gotten a email with a lot of stuff that u can probably read on their websute ' at the end of the lengthy email their was a number for company drivers / owner ops ..
My reason for picking Knight transportation is this: I truly see myself working very hard for them and learning more about being a successful driver. What shall I do? This is to me a company where I can get my training/ sticking it out for one year .... Any advice/ guidance on the matter will help me. Thank u very very much
Call Knight every couple of days to check on the status of your application. Be proactive! Do not sit and wait for them to contact you each time.
Anchorman is right, best thing is just call and ask.
Since I did it on a Sunday I will call them on Monday and get some info , kinda nervous about it; never done this before and I pray I don't get too nervous . I really want to do this . any advice on combating the nervousness...
