Just remember most companies only allow certain amount of time off. Only driving for 3 months a year you will end up having to go through the hiring process each time to go an start driving. Better check out our this.

Inactive status is not so bad then but you will still have to do paper work anyway which is more of a formality than anything to keep your file up to date.
I personally feel like it will be worth it

Driving a truck part time? That thought never would have crossed my mind till I read this. I could not imagine surviving an entire year on what a driver makes in three months time. Assuming you will have loans and grants to take care of your schooling and books and food and housing. It's doable I guess but I would not want to try and make $6000 stretch 12 months. That's a lot of Top Ramon noodles almost for every meal.
