That is pretty cool! How heavy was the load?
Just shy of 40k so not too heavy but being only 12 sheets, it's just over 3k per sheet. That tank once finished will have a capacity of 80,000 barrels putting it at 3,360,000 gallons.
Wow we truckers get to haul some of the coolest items in the world!
That we do and I honestly love everything oil field related.
We keep talking about the variety of loads that flatbedders haul and I thought that maybe we could make a thread with photos of the variety of things that gets tied to a trailer.
I will start with a load that I hauled today.... prefab walls for a house that is being built. Apparently it is cheaper to make and ship the walls than to build on site.
When I was just out of high school I worked at a plant that built house packages like that. We would load the trailer so it could be parked next to the foundation and unloaded in order of assembly but the roof trusses had to be piled on top and unloaded first. Some loads also had windows and batt insulation and shingles piled on, along with all the plywood and joists. A 3 man crew could have a 1000sqft house ready for shingles in 2 days.
Hey so I know that I have pics for Pat M. But it seems that I cannot upload them from my phone. Sorry.
You'll need to upload them to a photobucket account or something similar, then click on the photo link on here and paste the link so it shows up on here. I don't know if Dropbox works but that's another option too.
WOW! 100 Pages and 1000 posts in this thread. Keep them coming folks.
This is what it looked like a week ago on I25 mile marker 218 in Wyoming. Does not look like that now. Use your imagination and see everything white...Lol

This was a fun one in Midland Texas. 7/16" steel sheets that were 8' wide and right around 32' long to finish up that crude oil storage tank. There were 3 of us with staggered times to unload and the way they had it set up, they unload 3 sheets at a time and then re position around the tank so it's easier on them as they build upward. The securement wasn't as cool as the location and unload. I love west Texas.
