TDL, that is a step deck that the load of pipe is on. Lowboys are 24" or less to the top of the deck and are also called double drop or RGN trailers.
Ok here is the dovetail load that I had to move today. This is a mechanics truck and the trailer is the control room for the asphalt hot plant.

Thanks for the clarification. Still learning all the terminology (rookie).

LOL it is all good. Would not want you to pick one of these up if someone sent you to pick up a lowboy.
Here's 18 1/2 miles of pipe I delivered today in Sparks, NV, from Utah. Got to drive US 50 across Nevada. They call it "The Loneliest Highway in America" and that's no joke - only got passed five times in 200 miles (counting US 93 in NV) and I was putting along at 60 to try to get some better fuel economy. I wouldn't want to drive it in snow, though, since there are 6%-7% grades with 30 mph curves through some of the passes.
You need to drive in Montana some more. Some of the 2 lane highways can be like that.
Here's my easy weekend load, slate for roofing, SoCal to Nashville. Way better than the rolled roofing I thought I was getting!
Sounds like a nice relaxing run. There are alot of houses around Tennessee with slate roofs for some reason.
It has been a nice run, one more day of driving. I really enjoy driving, even in a holiday weekend when all the people with boats on trailers head out and drive like they forget it's back there. I hope to get on some of those Montana two lanes soon!
Tarping aerodynamically paid off big on this load. I got 9.6 mpg, which I've never even come close to before. Net fuel cost for this load was under a penny a mile, even including the expensive California fuel I started with. Nice way to start the week!

Thanks TDL! This load is steel decking, Arizona to Utah. This stuff settles as you drive, so lots of stopping and retightening straps and chains. I've driven US 89 both directions Utah to Flagstaff in the last few days. Its really beautiful country.
