When I talked to the recruiter she assured me that once I get through training and I am assigned my own truck I could take the truck home and the only time I would even need to go to the terminal is for maintenance and such. I am assuming while I'm in the Squire program I will be driving in the trainer's truck.
Yes you will be with a trainer, I will be going through the squire triaging as well. Week 1: Classroom and Range Training (where you will work to learn your skills for driving)
Week 2-3: OTR (Over-the-Road) with a trainer
Week 4: Pass the skills/pre-trip test to obtain CDL-A license
Week 5: Orientation in home terminal
Week 6-9: OTR with a trainer
Week 10: 30, 000 miles Solo
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Hey John I passed my cdl written test today WOOOOHOOOOO. Waiting on my recruiter to call me back, want to set up training date for September 8th.
