When I think of the old school truckers, I see rebels who handled their business, safely for the most part, with pride and with a real camaraderie towards each other. We need to get that back and educate the ignorant, or, should I say sheeple about what trucking is truly about.

My 1.5

Maybe if you could make a video game about it they might learn something.

Man you are behind the times. That idea has already been taken. There is a video game that is meant to influence people's behavior on the road.... It's called "Grand Theft Auto“. Nice idea but already gone.

I don't care about cell phone calls. But get a blue tooth for the sake of the rest of us. But if your caught texting the penalty should be the same as drunk driving cause their driving behavior is just as bad as a drunk driver. There is absolutely no reason to text and drive. If there is something super important that has to be taken care of right now then make a phone call.

I totally agree!

I really don't care don't care if 4 wheelers want to play bumper cars. I see that as Natural Selection taking its course but the problem is the 2 year old in the back seat might be paying the price.

Yeah, sorry. That was just an attempt at humor to try and lighten the mood. sorry.gif

The fine here for cell phone violations is $20, so people treat it like a joke. The fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $150 and goes up with further tickets. I don't really understand it, since not wearing a seatbelt doesn't affect the safety of other drivers the way distracted driving does. Funny, when I started driving at 15 I would see people weaving in their lane and assume they were drunk. Now I nearly always think--on the phone. And usually when you pull up next to them--ayup, glued to the screen.

You shouldn't be apologizing for using naughty words under stress. When I was getting my associate's degree, I did a research paper for my psychology class on the effects of using profanity during times of stress. It turns out that, although there hasn't be a lot of detailed research on the subject, studies have shown a genuine therapeutic effect on pain and stress responses by the nervous system in people who swear versus those who don't. So by all means, swear like a drunken sailor when some brainless lackwit cuts you off and dynamites the brakes or you smash your thumb with a hammer. It's good for you. smile.gif

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Cant tell ya how many times this crap has happened to me. My fav was getting to the peak of a mountain and having another big truck driver swerve towards me and when I looked over the jerk was TEXTING! I mean seriously buy a freaking blue parrot. You push one button and can tell it to call so and so, text so and so, open this do that. The damn thing does all that with the touch of a button so why oh why is your dumb butt texting and driving. Not to mention the numerous phones that have talk to text. Who cares if you say one thing and types another. Shot it makes life more interesting for the person deziphering the message:-)
