Who are some of the best companies in Gary/ Chicago to work for as a new driver? Please do not say C.R. England.

The best company is going to be the one that offers what you need and want while helping you become a better truck driver. I don't specifically what companies run out of the Chicago area but I can't imagine cr England is a bad company. As we have often said here there are no bad companies just bad drivers. More specifically bad attitudes. If your willing to busy a$$ and do what it takes to get the job done while being respectful then any company should work. I do hope you find what you're looking for! Good luck

Well, being in that area (right off 80) you are in good luck. a lot of companies hire from there as it is a pretty major freightlane. I agree with the common sentiments here that any company can be a good company if you put in the effort. It is also important to decide what is most important to you and go to a company that offers that. Is it worth it to get more hometime at the cost of making less money annually? Roehl does hometime plus fleets out of the Gary Terminal (I actually just accepted an offer for doing their flatbed 14/7 fleet out of Gary). If that's not a big concern then I would suggest you apply to every company that interests you and see what they have to offer. In this industry, even as a new driver, you are a hot commodity. It is in large part up to the employer to demonstrate to you why you should work for them. It's the opposite of most interviews I've had before I became a driver, because for once I'm asking most of the questions.

Good luck.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
